On January 26, 2025, we had the chance to meet the idol group Fragrant Drive during their 30-minute performance at the Uchisaiwaicho Hall in Shimbashi!
Fragrant Drive (フラグラント ドライブ) is an idol group that debuted in 2018 as a result of the merger between two groups, seeDream and Clef Leaf.
The group's name, ‘Fragrant Drive,’ carries multiple meanings, including the concept of 'wanting to wrap the world in a happy fragrance,' as well as the desire to 'give impulses through this group' or to 'race through the idol world together.'
The group is currently composed of seven members: Itabashi Kana, Katagiri Miho, Tsuji Rio, Chiyoda Ruki, Kohinata Misaki, Nagami Koko, and Mitsumaru Yua. We were happy to meet them for the first time on this late day of January, and despite the group disbanding in July of this year, they still have a long way to go, and we will try to follow them until the end!
So far, they have released two singles in 2019, along with several digital singles, which have allowed them to perform with confidence. The performance we attended on January 26 lasted 30 minutes, and as a fun fact, it was the last performance held at Uchisaiwaicho Hall before its renovation.
The performance included a total of six songs as part of a special showcase within a larger idol event organized by Tokyo Idol Gekijo, also known as "Ai♡Geki."
As Fragrant Drive is the successor of former groups seeDream and Clef Leaf, both of which were part of the Label The Garden roster, they often perform songs from these idol groups. This time, we had the chance to hear "Koibana,"originally by Flower Notes, as well as "I'm a Dreamer" and "Nemureru Hime ni Kuchizuke wo" from Clef Leaf.
The other songs performed that day were originally from the former idol group Shine Fine Movement, including "Hikari Crescendo", "Fancy Drop Love", and the first-ever performance of "Yukizakura" by Fragrant Drive in concert.
It was clear that the members were experienced and confident on stage, executing all the choreography with precision. Their colorful costumes added a joyful touch, perfectly complementing their energy.
The group has two important dates coming up. First, they will hold a 3rd-anniversary one-man live (with the current lineup) on April 29, 2025, at SHIBUYA DIVE. The title of the live is Anniversary to the End.
Secondly, the seven members will hold their final one-man live, SING FOR YOU, at Shibuya WWW on July 20, 2025.
It’s unfortunate that we discovered this colorful and energetic idol group just before their disbandment. However, considering that their label, Label The Garden, has remained strong over the years, we’re sure they still have many surprises in store for us during these two concerts. Who knows, maybe even a new project?
